Volunteer Terms of Service
To be eligible to serve, you must meet the following criteria:
Travel, lodging, and other expenses are the volunteer’s responsibility.
As a volunteer, you commit to serving approximately 15 hours during the conference and serving for three days in a row. Roles include serving as an usher, greeter, bookstore guide, check-in attendant, and more. Shifts span from 4 to 7 hours per day of the conference. Volunteers play a key role in creating a welcoming and smooth conference experience by assisting attendees with check-in, seating, directions, shopping, conference information, and other event logistics. Volunteer opportunities range from attendee-facing roles to behind-the-scenes support, allowing volunteers to serve according to their gifts and the conference’s needs.
Volunteers must be available to serve for three consecutive days during the conference week. Most volunteer assignments are typically Sunday–Tuesday (April 4–6) or Monday–Wednesday (April 5–7), 2027, though schedules may vary by team and role.
Volunteer responsibilities take place at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, where TGC27 will be held.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old by the start of the conference.
No. Volunteers will be registered by the Volunteer Coordinator on approval, as volunteers exchange their service for the conference registration fee.
Yes! Volunteers who submit an application by February 19, 2027, and are approved to serve will receive access to select from available volunteer teams and shifts through the TGC27 volunteer management platform. Volunteers who apply after the February 19 deadline may still be considered for a volunteer role if opportunities are available. However, shift assignments will be determined by the Volunteer Coordinator based on conference needs.
The process is simple:
Applicants will be notified of their volunteer status within 60 days of submitting their application.
If you're no longer able to volunteer, please email volunteer@thegospelcoalition.org as soon as possible, and no later than February 19, 2027. Early notice helps us adjust volunteer assignments and meet conference needs. If you cancel after February 19, 2027, you may no longer be able to volunteer at future TGC conferences.
Of course! When you aren’t scheduled to serve, you may attend TGC keynote or breakout sessions (that aren’t at capacity) free of charge in exchange for your time.
Absolutely! We welcome friends and family members to volunteer together. Each person must submit his or her own volunteer application with a unique email address. If approved, each volunteer should sign up for the same volunteer team in the volunteer management platform to be scheduled together.
Yes, international volunteers are welcome to apply. Volunteers are responsible for all travel arrangements, passport and visa requirements, and compliance with applicable immigration laws. Acceptance as a volunteer doesn’t guarantee entry into the United States, and The Gospel Coalition cannot provide immigration or legal advice. Any travel, lodging, or visa-related expenses are the responsibility of the volunteer.
A detailed FAQ document will be shared with all volunteers as the conference gets closer. In addition, you’ll receive various conference and volunteer communications so you’re equipped and ready to volunteer! You may also contact us at volunteer@thegospelcoalition.org.
